MARINE MICROORGANISMS, VENOMS, STINGS AND BITES
Please
note the change in the order of our meeting on March 1st. The
presentation that evening will begin at 7:30PM, and we will have our
business meeting afterward.
Please join SFDI on Wednesday, March
1st when Dr. Gary Rose will speak to us for the second time. You may
recall that, a year and a half ago, he made a presentation about
different species of sharks. This time, Dr. Rose will speak to us about
what we all don’t see – microorganisms: bacteria, protozoa and worms.
He is as concerned, if not, more so with their impact on humans than
that of the large ocean creatures that we all seek while diving. Dr.
Rose will discuss and explain to us, in an entertaining way, the
variety of microorganisms that we are exposed to each time we dive in
Florida waters, as well as the treatment those exposures may require.
In addition, he will review how to avoid and manage venoms, stings, and
bites. Plenty of time will be set aside for questions and answers.
